VP Who Melded Sun & MySQL Turns Up at Oracle DB Rival

Karen Tegan Padir will report to EnterpriseDB President and CEO Ed Boyajian

Open Source Journal on Ulitzer

The Sun VP once responsible for key Sun open source products like MySQL, GlassFish, Identity Management and SOA – and who headed the technology and engineering integration of MySQL into Sun – has gone to work for Oracle’s closest open source rival EnterpriseDB as vice-president of products and marketing.

Karen Tegan Padir (pictured), who didn’t make the jump to Oracle, will report to EnterpriseDB President and CEO Ed Boyajian.

Padir worked for Sun for 15 years, leaving only to return in 2005 after a year as Red Hat’s vice-president of engineering where she met Boyajian.

Her first gig Wednesday was to go Oracle’s headquarters in New York with Boyajian for a MySQL Users Group meeting to compare PostgreSQL and MySQL.
