Web Browser Wars: Firefox 1.5 Release Candidate 2 Now Available

RC2 Made Available for Testing Purposes Only, with No End-User Support

Exactly one year and one day after Mozilla first rolled out its popular Firefox Web browser, Firefox 1.5 Release Candidate 2 has become available for download - made available to the techno-savvy for testing purposes only, with no end-user support. The file is 5.0MB in size and can be found at the Mozilla Fondation's download site.

"Mozilla is ecstatic about the success of Firefox over the past year," said Mitchell Baker, CEO of Mozilla Corporation, as Firefox turned one. "We applaud the commitment of our global community of open source contributors to the shared goal of making the Web browsing experience better for everyone."

The Mozilla community is a worldwide network of open source software contributors, including developers, beta testers, designers, writers and end users.

"This is the second release candidate of our next generation Firefox browser, to be released later this year, and it is being made available to our developer and testing community for compatibility testing and to solicit feedback," Baker added.

Compared to Release Candidate 1, RC2 includes several fixes to the automated update system.
