Today, more than 25-percent of U.S. households have eliminated their home phone service plan in favor of mobile phone service, and this trend is expected to accelerate in coming years. Unfortunately, most homes have numerous home phone handsets conveniently located throughout the home or office, which go unused when landline service is cancelled. Now, instead of connecting their phone to a traditional telephone wall jack, users plug their phone system into the Cobra PhoneLynx, which then originates and receives calls via the user's cell phone service plan.

Cobra PhoneLynx for Android includes a complementary new Android App that dramatically enhances the PhoneLynx user experience for Android smartphone users, with powerful feature integration between home phone systems and Android devices. Features include:

  • Voice Dial. Offers access to the powerful voice dialing capabilities of an Android phone from any home phone handset. Calls can be made to any number in the Android address book by simply using your voice.
  • Message Waiting. Activates the home phone message waiting light when a voicemail is waiting on the mobile phone, making it a true land line replacement.
  • Speed Dial. Allows the user to save frequently dialed contacts in a Speed Dial list that is accessible from both the mobile and home phone.
  • Auto Hands-free. Auto Hands-free allows advanced user control over when and how the PhoneLynx and paired mobile phone connect.
  • Voicemail. Provides easy access to the mobile phone's voicemail from any home phone.
  • Alarm Clock. Lets users create and set an alarm to ring on all of the home phones at a designated time.
  • Improved Reception. Eliminates "dead spots" by placing the mobile phone in an area with the best reception.
  • ClearCall(TM). Noise-cancelling technology helps ensure superior call quality by eliminating unwanted line noise.

"With 99-percent of U.S. households now covered by one or more wireless providers, the market is strongly trending towards the mobile phone being the primary phone number, and in many cases the only phone number," said Sally Washlow, senior vice president of marketing and sales for Cobra Electronics. "Voice calling plans are also now more competitive than ever with family plans roll-over minutes, which leaves many families with excess wireless minutes and no need for monthly landline service. PhoneLynx is an innovative device that supports the trend toward a mobile phone-only lifestyle, while maintaining the utility, convenience and ergonomics of traditional handsets."

Pricing and availability:

Cobra PhoneLynx for Android will be available May 1, 2011 for a suggested price of $59.99. The Cobra PhoneLynx app is available at no cost via the Android Market at https://market.android.com/. To locate a retailer or to learn more visit www.cobraphonelynx.com

Poor data quality and analytics drive down business value. In fact, Gartner estimated that the average financial impact of poor data quality on organizations is $9.7 million per year. But bad data is much more than a cost center. By eroding trust in information, analytics and the business decisions based on these, it is a serious impediment to digital transformation.
