SEH, the German specialist for network solutions, presents the myUTN-130 Scannerserver in Japan for the first time at Information Security EXPO, a part of Japan IT Week. The Scannerserver, a virtualisation solution for USB scanners, is designed for all scenarios where accessing scanners via the network is desirable but technically difficult or impossible. It connects scanners to virtualised environments (Citrix, VMWare, Microsoft Hyper V etc.). They operate as if they were locally attached, including their full functional range. Depending on the original and the scan method, myUTN-130 offers scan data compression rates of more than half of the original size. This is an advantage in networks with narrow available bandwidth. The myUTN-130 is available for 275 Euro excluding local taxes.

Most scanners are locally attached to a PC. If users have no access to a scanner at their own workstation, they have to ask a colleague for help who has a scanner attached or they have to disconnect a scanner elsewhere and attach it to their own PC. Both methods are inefficient. The myUTN-130 Scannerserver makes scanners available for several users across a network.
Scanning in Wide Area Networks With Narrow Bandwidth
If a scanner is operated at a remote site in a Wide Area Network (WAN) with a narrow bandwidth connection (virtualised environments, server-based computing), insufficient bandwidth may cause problems when the scanner sends raw data to the central server. The myUTN-130 Scannerserver can compress scan data, leaving more bandwidth left for other applications.
Secure Scanning Across the Network
Many security functions protect connected scanners and scan-data from unauthorised access: access control, authentication, password protection, and encryption. The IPv6-enabled myUTN-130 Scannerserver operates in all Ethernet networks including Gigabit. It is compatible with Windows 32/64 bit versions. Regular free software updates, technical support world wide and a three year warranty are included.
