MPSTOR (www.mpstor.com) today announced Provizo, the first open-platform SAN management plug-in for OpenStack™. Provizo is a scale-out Elastic Block Storage (EBS) solution that automates the discovery, registration and provisioning of storage resources as they are added to a cloud service provider platform. It can be used in the full spectrum of cloud offerings spanning public, private and hybrid architectures, allowing service providers to deliver the most operationally efficient and highest performing Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offering to their customers.
Provizo automates storage volume provisioning for iSCSI, CIFS, FC, SAS and Infiniband. It automates the process of creation, deletion, snapshot and replication of storage volumes. Provizo allows the user to select the volume size, media/storage group type, protocol and IO bandwidth limits of each volume. Provizo provides a static (Blueprint) and dynamic (Analytics) view of the data center volume usage from VM to LUN and the LUN path (Ports, RAIDs, Disks…).
Making Provizo available as a downloadable software module, which can easily be integrated with existing installations of OpenStack, will allow OpenStack users to avail of storage management functionality that has, up to now, only been available in high-end proprietary products.
“MPSTOR’s technology choices adhere to a principal of ‘self organization’,” said William Oppermann, founder, MPSTOR. “MPSTOR’s Self Organizing Storage technology tracks storage demand, resource inventory and dynamically adapts the storage allocation to maximise performance and minimise costs. ‘Self Organizing Storage’ is MPSTOR’s key technology differentiator.”
“As the public cloud service market gets more competitive, operational efficiency will become the biggest determinant of profitability for cloud service providers,” said Tony McEnroe, CEO, MPSTOR. “Provizo’s ability to automate compute and storage resource provisioning, while maintaining flexibility, scalability and high asset utilization, will increase operational gross margins.”
A free version of Provizo with limited number of supported VMs and storage capacity can be downloaded from the MPSTOR website for quick and easy integration with a wide range of x86 hardware platforms. For a quote on standard configurations, please email info@mpstor.com.
