SAN RAMON, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 04/26/12 -- WANdisco, the leading provider of Apache Subversion-based software and services for the enterprise, and a major corporate sponsor of the Subversion project, has announced that with the release of uberSVN 12.04, the open ALM platform is now officially out of beta. This week marks another milestone for uberSVN: it has now been twelve months since the Subversion-based platform was first launched.
"uberSVN has had a fantastic first year. Not only have we won industry awards and accolades from the IT media, but we've had an overwhelming positive response from the community -- all while the product was still in beta," said David Richards, CEO and co-founder, WANdisco. "Thank you to everyone who downloaded, deployed, and provided feedback on uberSVN, for helping to make the beta release such a success."
uberSVN 12.04 features many improvements and enhanced functionality for its ever-growing community of users, including:
- A new plugin API architecture and core upgrade that allows WANdisco registered plugins to work with uberSVN.
- Integrated Subversion Access Control 4.1 LDAP functionality.
- A new file upload function for the uberSVN Updates tab.
- A new option to subscribe to our Latest Release Channel or wait for us to deliver fixes highlighted by our early adopters in a Stable Release Channel. Set your preference within uberSVN.
- And the usual list of bug fixes.
Last year, WANdisco announced its release-naming strategy for uberSVN. Apple names their releases after big cats (Mac OS X Snow Leopard, Lion, etc.) and Google names theirs after desserts (Honeycomb, Ice Cream Sandwich, etc.) but as uberSVN is developed entirely in Sheffield, UK, WANdisco shows its support for the local area by naming uberSVN releases after local venues. Continuing this tradition, uberSVN 12.04 is codenamed 'Chimney House' after The Chimney House venue in Kelham Island, Sheffield.
