A headline theme for our upcoming seminar next week is ‘Google Apps for Healthcare’. It’s free to attend – Sign up here.
Take Two Apps and Call Me in the Morning
Our keynote speaker is Dennis Giokas, author of the recent Cloud Computing strategy document from Canada Health Infoway.
One of the key messages of this strategy is the anticipated adoption of a ‘green field’ suite of new Cloud-based applications for new functions like Consent Management, and our session will focus on the opportunity this presents for Cloud entrepreneurs, to create and sell these new SaaS solutions.
The challenges the organization has been addressing is identified and discussed in this Globe and Mail Report on Business supplement – Take Two Apps and Call Me in the Morning.
This describes the very serious challenges Canada faces, how a lagging innovation capability directly translates into lower rates of adoption of key technologies like E-Health, and the negative impacts this means for society.
However as the title suggests it also points to the solution being more Cloud innovation – This will generate positive economic benefit and fast-track more new E-Health innovations.
Google Apps for Healthcare – Standing on the Shoulders of Giants
To achieve this entrepreneurism the key message about Cloud Computing is that it offers the potential to ‘stand on the shoulders of giants’ – This is how I introduced the potential of the Google Cloud platform in this previous article.
For the adoption of the Google Apps range in Healthcare you can check out case studies like the Roche Group, Middlesex Hospital, Genesis Medical, and in Australia Cloud Assist detail how they work with healthcare orgs there.
How it can be used to develop innovative new ventures and apps can be seen through examples like this piece on Google Apps for Doctors,
To explain and explore how other entrepreneurs might develop their own E-Health Cloud applications we’ll be zooming in on key technologies like Google Cloud End Points.
Another of our speakers is Mark Lapasa, who will be providing a tailored version of the presentation he recently gave to the Toronto Google Developers Group - Developing with Android, Google Cloud Endpoints, and Google App Engine’. Access the slides here, and a follow up Q&A here.
