Spanning Cloud Apps Achieves Record Growth with 137 Percent Year-Over-Year Revenue Increase

Spanning Cloud Apps, the leading provider of data backup and recovery for cloud applications, today announced that it closed the first half of 2014 with record-breaking revenue growth. Reflecting exploding market demand as predicted by industry analysts last December, Spanning grew its revenue by 137 percent and tripled its number of users as compared to the first half of 2013. In addition, Spanning increased the number of new customers through competitive displacements as a result of delivering innovative, proven products with the industry’s most trusted backups and restores for Google Apps and Salesforce.

“Spanning’s increased momentum in the first half is the direct result of the team’s tremendous execution on all fronts,” said Jeff Erramouspe, CEO of Spanning Cloud Apps. “Enterprises and educational institutions are choosing Spanning Backup for Google Apps and Spanning Backup for Salesforce in record numbers. Our rapid expansion is fueled by growth in our sales team combined with over 100 new reseller partners. And our product team continues to deliver products that our customers love and trust to keep their SaaS data safe and their employees productive.”

Spanning’s record growth was driven by a number of factors. The company continued to gain traction in the enterprise and education markets with the addition of Clark Construction, George Washington University, Projetech, Urban Airship and VIF International Education. At the same time, more customers switched to Spanning from competitors.

“My company uses both Google Apps and Salesforce, and we switched from Backupify to Spanning mostly because of the lack of reliability of our backups,” says Arne Plum, Business and Data Application Specialist, VIF International Education. “Now, with Spanning Backup in place, we have complete visibility into any data quality issues and can quickly resolve them, allowing us to be completely confident that our data is being backed up and available should we ever experience a data loss event.”

“Spanning also has much tighter integration with Salesforce. We love being able to review the status of our backups straight from Salesforce, the Chatter functionality, and especially the individual record restore feature,” continued Plum.

A Google Apps Premier Technology Partner and Salesforce ISVforce program member, Spanning continued to deepen its industry alliances. Most recently, Spanning helped launch the Cloud Collective, a new alliance of Salesforce AppExchange companies. It also reinforced its commitment to delivering world-class security in its backup and recovery solutions by joining the Cloud Security Alliance, a not-for-profit organization with a mission to promote the use of best practices for providing security assurance within cloud computing.
