Focusing on an evolving business environment in which mobile warriors and entrepreneurs need to improve efficiencies in the workplace and stay connected while on the go, Toshiba's Digital Products Division (DPD), a division of Toshiba America Information Systems, (TAIS), announced a new lineup of business-oriented products this week for 2009.
The broad array of business offerings ranged from the Toshiba Portégé R600-ST520W-Toshiba's first ultraportable laptop with WiMAX-to the Satellite Pro and Tecra product lines with EasyGuard Technology. WiMAX is the next generation of high-speed wireless technology (4G) delivering low-cost Internet access to WiMAX enabled devices. The Portégé R600-ST520W, which integrates Intel Wireless WiMAX and WiFi Link technology will be rolling out to cities across the country in 2009.
TAIS also recently announced a relationship with Sun Microsystems to deliver laptops preconfigured with OpenSolaris, the open source operating system designed for high-performance computing environments. New features in OpenSolaris include Time Slider, a graphical interface that brings ZFS functionality, like instant snapshots, to all users.
The OpenSolaris laptops are targeted for availability in early 2009.
The latest business tools from Toshiba, which will debut throughout 2009, include:
- Toshiba Portégé R600-ST520W - Toshiba's first ultraportable laptop combined with integrated Intel Wireless WiMAX / WiFi Link 5350AGN (802.11a/g/n + WiMAX)1
- Toshiba Portégé A600-S2201 - Weighing three-pounds2, the Portege A600 is built around the Intel Core2 Duo Processor SU93005, it includes a 160GB 5400 RPM SATA HDD6, 3GB memory7, DVD SuperMulti drive, 12-inch diagonal widescreen with LED Backlit display, built-in Webcam and microphone as well as a fingerprint reader for security.
- Toshiba Tecra R10-S4401 - features powerful Intel Centrino 2 with vPro technology5, EasyGuard Technology, TouchPad pointing device, sleep-and-charge combo USB port8, 160GB 7200 RPM SATA HDD6, 3GB memory7, DVD SuperMulti, 14.1-inch diagonal widescreen WXGA display, Mobile NVIDIA Quadro NVS 150M with 128MB dedicated graphics memory9, Intel WiFi Link 5100AGN1, built-in Webcam and Bluetooth v2.1.
- Toshiba Satellite Pro S300/S300M Series - with EasyGuard Technology, TouchPad pointing device, a built-in Webcam, Intel Centrino processor technology5, a choice of a 14.1-inch or 15.4-inch TruBrite widescreen WXGA display and a built-in optical drive.
- Toshiba TDP-F10U LED Projector - weighs in at 1.4 pounds with a crisp 800x600 SVGA resolution and 800:1 high-contrast ratio. It also offers connectivity to laptops, DVD players, gaming consoles and other mobile devices.
- dynadock U Universal USB Docking Station - Compatible with all versions of Windows XP and Vista, along with six USB 2.0 ports, the dynadock U helps laptop users easily stay connected and productive.
